How To Do A Home Colon Cleanse

When it comes to selecting a cleansing colon home remedy, there are three basic options for you to choose from. While all of these natural colon cleanse options are effective at cleansing the colon and improving your overall level of health, there are pros and cons associated with each method. Therefore, it is important to know a little about each in order to determine which colon cleanse method is right for you.

Using the Home Enema for Your Home Remedy Colon Cleanse

When it comes to home remedies, colon cleansing with an enema is perhaps the most thorough option you have available to you. At the same time, this colon cleanse method is potentially dangerous if it is not performed correctly. In addition, the enema can only cleanse the first couple inches of the colon.
In order to perform an enema, you may want to purchase a home enema from your local drugstore or pharmacy. The product should include a bag for holding the enema solution as well as a tube and an enema tip. Once you have all of the proper materials and your enema bag is filled with the cleansing solution, you will need to lubricate the area around and inside your anus. Then, you simply insert a tube into your anus and release water into the bowels gradually.
You may feel the need to eliminate your bowels while you are filling them with the enema solution. Resist this urge and periodically stop the flow of the solution if necessary. Once all of the liquid has entered your colon, allow it to stay in your colon or a few minutes. Lie on your back if possible, and gently massage your tummy area in both clock-wise and anti-clock wise directions to stimulate elimination of intestinal matter higher up the intestines. Still resist the urge to eliminate for as long as possible. Eventually (after only minutes in reality) then position yourself over the toilet so you can release the waste and the solution. You may want to warm the solution before you put it in the bag, as warm water is generally easier to hold in the bowels then cold water.

Using the Home Colonic for Your Home Remedy Colon Cleanse

Another way to naturally colon cleanse your body is to perform a colonic. Colonics have been used since 1500 BC to help cure illnesses. Today, the colonic, which is also referred to as colon hydrotherapy, is still used for colon cleansing. As with the enema, many experts recommend having a colonic performed by a professional in order to ensure safety, but it is possible to perform a colonic at home as well.
A colonic is similar to an enema, except the colonic cleanses only the entire system rather than just the first couple of inches. To perform a colonic, you or the professional will first insert a sterilized speculum into your anus. The speculum is attached to tubing that transports warmed water into your colon and loosens the waste that is stuck inside your colon.  Additional tubing then transports the waste water out. Since the colonic occurs in an entirely closed system, there is no need to worry about smell or trying to get rid of the waste in a sanitary manner.

Using Herbal Remedies for Your Home Remedy Colon Cleanse

For a less invasive colon cleanse, natural herbal remedies may be a better option for you. To naturally colon cleanse your body with the help of herbs, it is generally easier to simply use an organic colon cleanse product that is made for this purpose. On the other hand, you can create your own natural colon cleanse mixture by purchasing herbs separately and making your own colon cleanse mixture. Some herbs that are good choices for a home colon cleanse include psyllium, flax seed, liquorice root and cayenne pepper. If you are not comfortable with creating your own herbal remedies, however, you may want to stick with those that are pre-mixed for this purpose.
Many people find that using an herbal colon cleanse is more comfortable than an enema or home colonic. At the same time, it generally takes longer to enjoy the results from this colon cleanse method and you may experience a period of irregularity in bowel movements when you first start an herbal colon cleanse process.
